The cooperation is meant to offer customers more flexibility, enabling transatlantic codeshare connections above and beyond what the carriers offer with their own flights, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transat.com\/en-CA\/corporate\/media\/news-releases\/124399\">according <\/a>to the press release.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large\"><p>\u201cThis agreement is a first milestone in our strategy to grow and strengthen our network through alliances. It will create great opportunities for our existing and future customers, who are looking to connect between North America and Europe and will enhance our long-standing presence on the transatlantic market.&#8221;<\/p><cite>Annick Gu\u00e9rard, President and CEO of Transat<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>WestJet&#8217;s code will be placed on Air Transat flights to select cities in Europe, while Air Transat&#8217;s code will be placed on select WestJet flights in North America, with the scheme to be implemented in early 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large\"><p>&#8220;Confidence in travel is building and this new transatlantic cooperation will allow WestJet to offer even more destinations to travellers, connecting North America and Europe in new ways, and benefiting guests on both sides of the Atlantic.&#8221;<\/p><cite>Ed Sims, WestJet President and CEO<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Two of Canada\u2019s leading airlines, Air Transat and WestJet, have come to an agreement to cooperate on a codeshare to simplify transatlantic travel for their customers.
