Expansion into Ontario
Canopy Growth Head of Retail, Lacey Norton, announced the expansion of its Tokyo Smoke brand on Friday, August 27th. Canopy Growth shares (TSE: WEED) subsequently grew by 1% by midday trading, yet ended the day down 0.14%.
The Katz Group, which also owns the Edmonton Oilers hockey team, operates the Rogers Place arena and has a partnership with restaurant brand Oliver & Bonacini, according to the Canadian Press.
According to Lacey Norton, the Katz Group had chosen Eaton Centre, Fairview Mall and Sherway Gardens in Toronto and the Rideau Centre in Ottawa for the Tokyo Smoke locations, with the openings set for sometime in October of this year. This will add to the 20 Tokyo Smoke locations already spread around Ontario.
