QuantumScape stock jumped on reports of a joint research agreement with Honda solid-state technology. Honda agreed after significant stress testing. This multi-year agreement joins R&D from both companies to continue to develop Solid-State technology.

“QS technology demonstrated compelling and unique advantages during our evaluation,” Atsushi Ogawa, chief operating officer of Honda R&D’s Research Center of Excellence, said in a statement.

The deal is a integral partnership in development of the technology as the company sees a good path forward.

“This agreement reflects the growing confidence in QS solid-state lithium-metal batteries to enable safer, higher-density energy storage,” QuantumScape CEO Siva Sivaram.

The company build solid-state lithium-metal batteries, which are the alternative to lithium-ion batteries that have higher density and safety characteristics.
