Microsoft Supercharges Windows 11 with Agentic AI and Hardware Moves

Microsoft this week rolled out a sweeping update to Windows 11, putting its Copilot AI assistant front and center in the OS experience Among the headline changes is the ability for users to wake Copilot by voice—saying “Hey, Copilot” will activate the assistant hands-free. The company also expanded Copilot Vision globally, enabling the assistant to interpret on-screen content and offer suggestions or context based on what users see.
Another notable addition is Copilot Actions, a more agentic feature set wherein Copilot can autonomously perform tasks—such as placing orders, filling out forms, or scheduling appointments—once given user permission. To support security and privacy, Microsoft says these agents will run in isolated environments with restricted access. The update also refines taskbar integration (adding an “Ask Copilot” icon), boosts search across apps and files, and enhances File Explorer with new AI-powered tools.
These changes come at a key juncture: Microsoft just ended free support for Windows 10 as of October 14, 2025, and is pushing users toward adopting Windows 11. To further drive adoption, Microsoft recently launched new Surface Copilot+ PCs (including a model with built-in 5G) at GITEX 2025, signaling that it wants to pair its AI OS advances with compelling hardware.
Taken together, these updates underscore Microsoft’s strategy of turning Windows itself into an “AI PC” platform, embedding intelligent assistants deeply into the user workflow rather than relegating them to separate apps.
