Intel is sharpening its AI story with a new alliance: Nvidia will invest $5 billion in Intel and the two companies will co-develop AI infrastructure and PC products. The plan pairs Intel CPUs with Nvidia accelerators in data centers and introduces x86 system-on-chips that integrate Nvidia RTX GPU chiplets for future AI-capable PCs, pending regulatory approvals.

On the roadmap, Intel says its next mobile platform, Panther Lake, will debut on the Intel 18A process, with industry trackers pointing to late-2025 availability and broader ramp in 2026. Recent third-party reports have shown the first 18A-based laptop demos while acknowledging ongoing scrutiny of 18A yields and timing.

Separately, media reports say Intel has been in early talks with Apple about a potential investment as the company looks to add strategic partners amid its AI push. Those discussions are not final and may not result in a deal.
